- A combination of Ambroxol, Dextromethorphan, Phenylephrine, Chlorpheniramine and Menthol in one liquid.

How it works of COFAL-AM
- Ambroxol is a mucolytic / expectorant. It thins and loosens mucus so it is easier to cough up.
- Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. It calms the cough reflex to relieve dry, irritating cough.
- Phenylephrine is a nasal decongestant. It narrows the swollen blood vessels in the nose to relieve a blocked nose.
- Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine. It blocks the action of histamine, which causes allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and itching.
- Menthol is a cooling counter-irritant. It is absorbed through the skin and reduces local pain and swelling by blocking prostaglandin production.
Dosage of COFAL-AM
- Measure each dose with the cup, spoon or dropper provided — never a household spoon.
- Shake well before use if it is a suspension.
- The dose is decided by the doctor, often based on age or body weight; follow the prescription and the label.
Side effects of COFAL-AM
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Rash (rare)
- Drowsiness
- Dizziness or nausea
- Restlessness or trouble sleeping
- Raised blood pressure or fast heartbeat
- Dry mouth
- Seek medical help at once for signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face or difficulty breathing
Precautions of COFAL-AM
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Tell the doctor about stomach ulcers
- Not for productive (wet) cough unless advised
- Avoid alcohol and driving if drowsy
- Tell the doctor about high blood pressure, heart disease, thyroid problems or enlarged prostate
- Avoid driving or alcohol if it makes you drowsy
- Use only on the advice of a registered medical practitioner; tell the doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking other medicines
Storage of COFAL-AM
Store as printed on the pack, generally in a cool, dry place below 30°C, protected from light. Keep the bottle tightly closed; once a dry syrup is mixed, use within the period stated on the pack.
