What are PTR and PTS?

PTR (Price to Retailer) is the price at which a stockist sells to a retail chemist. PTS (Price to Stockist) is the price at which the company or franchise partner sells to the stockist. Both are derived from the MRP after removing GST and the trade margins.

How is PTR calculated?

A common method is: PTR = (MRP ÷ (1 + GST rate)) × (1 − retailer margin). PTS = PTR × (1 − stockist margin). Typical margins are 20% for retailers and 10% for stockists, but they vary by product and market — adjust them in the calculator above.

This calculator is a planning aid. Final prices are confirmed in Alna’s official price list.

Why PTR and PTS matter for distributors

MRP is what the patient pays. Between the company and the patient, the stockist and the retail chemist each earn a margin. Knowing PTR and PTS helps you check whether a product leaves enough margin for your stockists and retailers in your market.

  • PTR — the price a stockist charges the retailer
  • PTS — the price the company or franchise charges the stockist
  • GST is removed from MRP before margins
  • Final prices come from Alna’s official price list
